Happy New Year!!! I’m about to share with you my super secret Bourbon Weenies recipe. OK, I lied. It is a Bourbon Weenies recipe, but it is not super secret. I’ve shared it with friends before because I’ve never taken it to a party and not been asked for the recipe. I don’t know where I got the recipe from. All I know is I wrote it out on a tiny piece of paper probably at least 8 years ago and it has lived in my recipe collection since. Hubby requested these for our New Year’s Eve party. And by New Year’s Eve party I mean two sleeping kids upstairs, hubby, Oscar, and I downstairs watching The Dark Knight Rises and sipping on some fancy drinks (Lindemans Framboise for me, some rare made by monks limited edition beer for him) and snacking on some Bourbon Weenies (and falling asleep well before midnight).
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce1
- 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tbsp bourbon
- 1 lb cocktail sausages
- Combine first 5 ingredients and stir to combine. Fold in cocktail sausages. Cook in slow cooker on high 2-3 hours or low 5-6 hours until sausages are warm throughout.
I typically triple this recipe when taking it to an event and always come home empty handed (well with a dirty Crock Pot at least). And for best results I like to use Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce
