The food was cooked outside, but due to the threat of rain and muggy weather we took shelter inside. Thankfully we had good friends to hang out with and good food to eat!
Have you ever heard of Crowdtap? No, go check them out! They sent me a package of McCormick Grill Mates to try and Labor Day weekend seemed like the best time to test them out!
Here’s what I got.
So I checked out the goods, looked up some recipes and made a plan. I knew I wouldn’t be able to use all the samples at our cook out so I narrowed it down to 2. I ended up using the Molasses Bacon seasoning and the Spiced Brandy & Herb marinade.
First up: burgers. I found a recipe on the McCormick website for Molasses BLT Sliders. It seemed simple and tasty!
1 tbsp Molasses Bacon Seasoning
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
And let me tell you they were tasty! Everyone loved them! The guys went back for seconds. They were sweet and bacony and the cheese mixed in was all gooey! We will totally make these again (and again!). And lucky for me we still have seasoning left, so they may be on the menu sooner rather than later! The Husband over at Midwestern Bite said he could’ve eaten 4 of them they were so good!
mmm…..juicy……..delicious……..pregnant lady loves burgers………
We also cooked up some chicken. I decided on Southern Peach Chicken. I knew toddlers were going to be the most likely consumers of the chicken so I figured we needed a sweetish marinade.
1 package Spiced Brandy & Herb marinade
1/4 cup peach preserves
2 tbsp water
2 tbsp apple cider or white vinegar
2 lbs chicken
I have to admit, when I first mixed up the marinade I was scared. It didn’t smell good. But I tossed the chicken in and let it sit all day. Hubby grilled it up to perfection!
And I heard good things from around the room, so I dug in, too. And it was delish! The kids ate it. The adults liked it. It was sweet and tangy. I’d make it again.
Our awesome friends brought side dishes to round out the meal and we ate like royalty! All the food was good!! I was stuffed! I did leave room for Ho Ho Cake, though. I’ll tell you more about that tomorrow!
The adults enjoyed some conversation. The kids ran around like the crazy maniacs they are and we all agreed we should do this more often!
I hope you are enjoying your day off (if you’re one of the lucky ones to have the day off). Hopefully you got to spend some time with friends and/or family as well.
