Hey, guys! There’s some fun going on over at Patterns for Pirates! They are having a sew-a-long this week for the Henley patterns. This includes the Women’s Henley, Men’s Henley, and the Yo Yo Henley for kids, so you can sew for anyone this week! To make it more fun there are some pattern hacks!!! I had some fun with the raglan color block hack!
How fun is that? I love how it just adds a punch of fun to an otherwise basic shirt! I actually sewed up two versions, but due to the weather I was only able to get photos of one, so I picked my favorite!
I found this super soft striped sweater knit and suede fabric on clearance at Hobby Lobby forever ago! I had originally planned a cardigan with suede elbow patches, but as soon as I saw this color block option I knew I had to give it a try!
The Henley is designed for stretch fabric and my sweater fabric is nice and stretchy. Even though my suede is non-stretch it still fits great and is comfortable to wear. I wore it all day on Sunday and it was super comfy!
For this version I sewed up the roll up length sleeves and added the button tabs in the suede as well. Such a fun accent! The Henley sews up really fast! Adding the button tabs were an extra step, but so totally worth it. I love everything about this sweater and expect it to be in heavy rotation this winter!
So, if you’re ready to sew, but don’t have the Henley patterns, yet head over to day 1 of the sew-a-long to get the coupon code.
