One of the fun things about Cupcake going to preschool is learning about new books.  The first few weeks of school, Cupcake would tell me every day the stories of Pete the Cat.  I had never heard of Pete the Cat before so I loved hearing her tell me the stories.  Well, we are now the proud owners of 1 Pete the Cat book.

Pete the Cat #books

Cupcake’s school participates in the Scholastic Book Club, so the first month of book club I ordered Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons.  Cupcake said it was her favorite Pete the Cat book.  And since bringing it home it has seen a lot of love (in case you couldn’t tell by the curling cover).Pete is having a rough time with his buttons.

They keep popping off!  But Pete doesn’t cry.  He just keeps on singing his song.

The book is very repetitive (but not in a bad way), which is great for reiterating the point.  There’s the bonus of some basic math and numbers thrown in all while telling a fun story.  AND there’s a little song to it!  Head over the Amazon page and take a listen!

The illustrations are great and colorful, the story is cute, the song is fun and preschoolers love Pete the Cat.  I’m looking forward to this month’s Scholastic Book Club order because I think we need another Pete the Cat book in our library.

What are your kids reading these days?  Any Pete the Cat books in your library?
