Welcome to October’s edition of Kids’ Reads!  This month I have a fun Halloween-y book for you, Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson. A book about a witch!  We actually read this book year round, but if you’re looking for it at your local bookstore you likely won’t find it except this time of year.  Of course it’s always available on Amazon.com, though!

This adorable story is a fun read with it’s rhymes and great illustrations.  It’s not scary and has a cast of animal characters that Cupcake likes to identify as the story moves along.  The slight repetitiveness of the verses helps her participate in the story, too.  She loves to whoosh as we go!

The story does involve a dragon, who just might want to eat the witch, but luckily the friends the witch has made on her adventure are there to help her out.  So not only do we have cute pictures and a fun story there’s a lesson to be learned.

The age recommendation is listed as 4 and up, but Corinne has been enjoying this book for at least 6 months, so I wouldn’t hesitate to try it out with ages 18 months and up.
