Not only did the girls make ornaments this year, but I did, too. Actually this is the second year in a row I’ve made painted and pearl ornaments, but this time I took pictures to share!!
I make these painted and pearl ornaments for my sorority sisters, but you could put a name or initials, oh, how cute would a monogram be on these? They’re super simple and inexpensive to make!
I picked up a pack of the clear glass ornaments at Hobby Lobby when they were on sale. I also picked up the pack of pearls (used a 40% off coupon) and the ribbon. The first time I made them I used a paint pen, but it wasn’t my favorite to work with, so I picked up some enamel paints.
Make sure your class is nice and clean and dry and paint your letters in the main color. You may need to do a few coats to get the coverage you want.
Then get dotty! And when you’re happy with your dots (and they’ve dried) outline your letters.
If you’ve got the time let them cure. If you don’t you can bake them in the oven to cure. Check your paint bottle for the baking instructions.
Once they’re cool you can fill them up with pearls (or let your 4 year old assistant), put the topper back on and put a bow on it. And then you have a pretty, personalized ornament!
Tell me about your Christmas tree! Color coordinating ornaments or personal, eclectic ornaments? Ours is covered in sentimental ornaments and we pick up a new one on every vacation.
