And for my last trick…….  I mean, the last project for Sewing for Babies is a bow tie!  This was a fun one for me because I don’t usually get to sew for boys!

Sewing for Baby - Bow Tie #sewing #tutorial #babyThis can also be adapted for little girls, too.  Just make a hair bow instead of a bow tie.  But for now let’s get going on making a newborn size bow tie.

Cut 3 pieces of fabric.
1 – 4″ x 10″
1 – 2″ x 4″
1 – 2″ x 14″

Take the 4″x10″ piece of fabric and folding in half, right sides together stitch along the long end of the fabric.  Press the seam open and the flip right side out.  Stitch the short ends together like so.

Take your 2″x4″ piece of fabric and folding in half, right sides together, stitch along the long end.  Press your seam open.

Now, back to your first piece.  Pinch the center to create your bow.  You can put a stitch in it to hold it in place if you want.

Now, on to the last piece fabric.  Would you be shocked if I told you to fold in half, right sides together and stitch along the long edge?  Because that’s what you need to do.  And then press your seam open.

If you want to make a bow, say for the hair, for a girl, just skip the neck strap step and add a clip to the back.

So, there you go.  We sewed for babies this week.  I hope you enjoyed it.  I sure did.  Hey, did I ever mention that I like to sew?

Have a great weekend!  Especially all you mothers!  Enjoy your day!
