An English muffin was not the breakfast of choice today. Nor were pears. Cheerios, on the other hand were acceptable. She could’ve at least told me she didn’t want the muffin before I toasted it. So guess what momma had for breakfast. We weren’t in a hurry to rush out of the house this morning so we learned where baby’s belly button was,
saw a hungry caterpillar gain a lot of weight, questioned a duck wearing socks,
and said feliz cumpleanos to Dora.
Then we were off! We had a playdate this morning. The kids fought over toys, shared each others food and had a good time. Really playdates are for mommas! A chance to talk and relax (a bit) while your child is entertained by someone else’s toys.
Back home Cupcake went down for her nap and momma was off to a dentist appointment. Don’t worry, daddy was home while she slept. The appointment took forever. Actually the appointment didn’t take forever. The waiting did. But all in all it was a good appointment. My teeth are moving according to schedule so I got my next 3 sets of Invisalign trays and I go back in 6 weeks.
Since the hubs was home I thought it prudent to spend some time with him since I’ve barely seen him the last 3 weeks. And by spend some time with him I mean finish reading Catching Fire while he cleared out his Google Reader.
Cupcake unenthusiastically woke up and we shared a cookie. She was much happier after that. She set up residence at Oscar’s crate for some egg evaluations so the pup and I got to spend some quality time together.
He’s been pretty grumpy since daddy’s not home to play with him. Daddy is his favorite after all.
We thought we’d get a little creative today. Not too creative, though, because often creative means messy and Cupcake was wearing a white shirt. We did some mess free finger painting. I just put a few squirts of finger paint in a Ziploc bag and let her little fingers go to work.
She dove right in! I think I’ll keep these taped the to the table for a while………..
Back to good food. Homemade pizza tonight! We hardly ever have sausage pizza, so I browned up some Italian sausage to top it. I love making pizza from scratch. It’s a million times better than store bought pizza! Here’s how it goes….
Add your yeast, sugar and water.
Add in your olive oil, salt, and flour. I also toss in some extra spices like oregano and garlic powder.
Let it rise for 10 minutes.
Spread it out on your pizza stone.
Add your toppings. And pop it into the oven.
15 minutes later……….
Yum! You know you want a bite!
Serve it up with a great big salad (for mom) or some shredded carrots and croutons (for toddler) and enjoy! (Notice the red sleeve working it’s way into the picture? That’s a toddler stealing carrots off momma’s salad!!)
While cleaning up after dinner, checking the floor for dropped food that Oscar turned his nose up at, I discovered what Corinne was doing while I was preparing the pizza.
I knew she was playing with stickers. I just didn’t realize she was sticking them to the floor! What a funny girl.
After dinner we played. Some of us wearing pants, others not so much…….
I performed a minor surgery on a purple singing dog.
(Don’t worry, she recovered perfectly and is safely tucked under the arm of a sleeping toddler.)
And then we cleaned. Again some of us wearing pants, while others went without.
And Cupcake was off to bed! She didn’t insist on reading Curious George tonight, so I took the liberty of picking out a book. I opted for Olivia Saves the Circus. Good night, Toots!
The dishwasher needed unloaded and the dishes from dinner needed put in. The kitchen was a bit of a mess with some pizza sauce still on the counter, so I took care of that. I had planned to shampoo the carpet in the office/guest room, but ice cream was calling my name. So I indulged in some frozen goodness and caught up on my Google Reader and checked what my friends have been pinning lately. I thought I would do some shampooing before heading up to bed (early), but I just realized there was a new episode of Gossip Girl yesterday, so peace out!
